But you may be asking 'Why Choir?'
Singing makes you smarter! Children who are exposed to music do better in school because music benefits a child’s reading, IQ and the development of the brain.
It teaches discipline: Learning to sing is like learning to speak another language and it can be challenging at times. One of the qualities singers possess is discipline. You become disciplined when you set a time each day to practice (and stick to it), and are dedicated to a group of people who sing with you.
You develop a sense of achievement: The satisfaction of mastering a song is priceless, even if the song is simple! Learning to sing with a group is a series of setting and achieving goals with performance opportunities to share music with family and friends.
It is FUN! Sure, it can be a lot of hard work but there is no denying that singing is fun. Singing with a group of people just adds to the joy by making beautiful harmonies with one another. Family and friends love coming together to hear the beautiful music their children make together and it is a fun experience for the whole family!
Singing provides lasting pleasure: Music will stay with you all your life. You will never lose the skills you learn (they’ll get rusty if you don’t use them). When you are near 100 years old you will still be able to sing and enjoy it. Singing in a choir provides opportunities for making friends who last a lifetime too!
